Puerto Cayo and five weeks of volunteering

If you have seen pictures from our instagram recently you have probably noticed that we have been volunteering in Puerto Cayo, Ecuador. A small fishing village far away from any tourist attractions, it was the perfect place to see Ecudorian life like it really is. We have moved on now, but the five weeks we spent there were great and the memories from there will stay with us for a long time.

We were volunteering for a retired couple from Canada, Anna and Steve, at their house right on the beach. Three hours a day was all that we were required to do and the rest of the day was ours to enjoy, oh and free weekends too. Jobs were anything that needed doing around the property, from gardening to putting up Christmas decorations, cleaning to personal projects like the Swedish ‘Kubb’ game we made. The plan early on was to explore the surrounding area with our time off but we were far too comfortable relaxing in a hammock, walking on the beach or playing with the dogs. After being on the move for months and staying hostels, it was great to not plan a thing and just take it easy every single day.

But we are on the road again now. Feeling mentally and physcially recharged we are ready to take in what Brazil has to offer.

Here are a few pictures to do the rest of the talking…
