On the road again

We are on the road again. But we’ll get back to that in a moment.

First, we start with New Year’s Eve; the annually most overrated event, according to Jack. We had been in contact with Joe, a childhood family friend of Jacks for about six weeks before we finally agreed on a date to meet, with the added bonus of seeing his Dad (Andy) and partner Nicky. We met up at Auckland’s water front in the centre of the city and walked down the street to a fancy bar for some lunch. The 7+ contactless years gave us all a lot to catch up on; add the fancy food and numerous beers and you have yourself a very nice lunch indeed. After lunch, we were invited up to the amazing penthouse suite that Andy and Nicky somehow managed to discover on Airbnb, an app where locals can rent out their homes. Again, the drinks continued to come, but this time with a view looking out over the whole city and right next to Auckland’s famous Sky tower. We had an amazing time seeing Joe, Andy, and Nicky and would like to thank them again if they ever read this.

On New Year’s Day we welcomed the family back from their holiday. After they arrived, we were told that we were more than welcome to stay for as long as we wanted so we decided to spend a few more days in the area. Looking for dinosaurs at Auckland’s Botanic Garden, all-against-Jack wrestling fights and disco nights were a few things that we got up to with the children before it was time for us to say goodbye and get back on the road again. Oh, one more thing. Jacks shoes hit the grave early so we had to spend a few hours of shoe shopping before we could leave.

And here we are again, on the road. Currently in Coromandel town on the Coromandel Peninsula where we are planning to visit a few scenic, and hopefully enjoyable, locations. Just as before, we don’t have a vehicle so we are hoping for some good hitchhikes within the next few days. Wish us good luck 🙂
